1.Where do you get inspiration for your songs?
Duran: Mainly heartbreak.....crappy old heartbreak.
Richie: Everyday situations. Anything going on in my life helps me write. Good or bad,
writing is just a great way to get out what I'm feeling.
Jeff: I get inspiration from all around me, all the time. Everyday brings on new
challenges and stories that I pull inspiration from.
Ben: Personally, I get my inspiration for songs from a lot of personal experiences,
whether it's going through a hard time or just a really great day.
I really write about whatever comes to mind if I'm passionate enough about it.
2. What's the coolest part of being in KD?
Duran: Doing cool stage moves and meeting interesting people.
Richie: The coolest part about being in KD is definitely getting to do what I love in all
different cities with my 3 best friends.
Jeff: The coolest part of being in KD is by far playing live shows and being able
to see all of our amazing fans!
Ben: I think the coolest part of being in KD is the fact that I get to go to
so many awesome places and meet so many amazing musicians with my 3 best
friends. Having such an amazing experience is so much better if you're
sharing it with people you know you'll have a great time with.
3. What's your favorite KD song to play?
Duran: Our new song "Cinco De Mayo".
Richie: My favorite live KD song is a song called U Keep Me Shakin'.
Just a fun dance song that gets the kids on their feet and dancing.
Jeff: My favorite song to play is our single Bows and Arrows.
Ben: My favorite KD song to play as of now is probably a tie between Bows &
Arrows or Alive, both are really emotional songs and always go over great live.
4. Where is the coolest place you've been able to visit on tour?
Duran: San Francisco, CA which is my hometown.
Richie: We got to go to DC in April and it was amazing seeing the White
House. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay long and really see a lot
more of the city.
Jeff: Ithaca NY was absolutely incredible, and it's such a fun town!
Ben: The coolest place I've ever been on tour was San Francisco. It was
seriously the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my entire life, and the
weather was amazing plus the people were awesome.
5. What artist inspires you the most?
Duran: Coldplay and Blink 182.
Richie: Martin Johnson of Boys Like Girls is a big inspiration on me.
The way he writes and performs on stage is truly amazing. It's a honor
to actually know him a little bit and get a lot of advice from him.
Advice from your idol is pretty crazy.
Jeff: The artist that inspires me is my favorite band Nickelback. haha.
Ben: I think the artists that personally inspire me the most are guitarists
like Steve Vai and Jeff Beck. each have such unique and intricate techniques
and it's really good to have a diverse taste in something like that. As far
as programming and electronic aspects, my favorite artists right now are
Daft Punk, The Glitch Mob, and Skrillex. I've been huge fans of
Daft Punk and Skrillex for quite a long time now but I've recently started listening
to The Glitch Mob and it's like, totally out there, crazy inspiring music.
6. What's your favorite thing to do together outside of music?
Duran: Going to convenience stores and hiking trails.
Richie: We like to go to the mall and try to pick up girls. That's fun. It never works though.
Jeff: Our favorite things to do outside of music is go to the mall, the movies,
and go on fun adventures.
Ben: I think my favorite thing to do with the band outside of music is just
hanging out. as simple as it is, they're all really fun to be around and we
always end up doing something hilariously stupid.
7. If you could trade places with anyone for a day; who would it be?
Duran: The Cat Man or the Biebs.
Richie: I think being Justin Bieber for a day would be pretty crazy. haha. It must be crazy.
Jeff: If I could trade places with anyone in the world it would be Chuck Norris,
because who wouldn't wanna be Chuck Norris for a day?!
Ben: If I could trade places with anyone in the world for a day, I think it
would be Skrillex. The dude works so incredibly hard and plays such amazing
live shows, i would just want to experience that for one night. I think it
would be unbelievable.
